This last fortnight has been a very painful time for our family. Our beautiful Mum had a stroke which has impaired her speech and to some extent affected her ability to carry out everyday tasks. Thankfully, she has no physical weakness and is still mobile. Mum is home now and is still smiling through it all!
My Mum has a lovely smile and I see it in my own children - one in particular-when they smile.
Mum and I last Christmas
IWith everything that has been happening, it has been quite poignant to have been working on this piece of work for the next Ten Plus Textiles exhibition which will be at the Platform Gallery in October.
"When Everything Around Us Falls"
I was inspired by some of the words of this song called "Shelter" by Ray Lamontagne.

Tickled Pink!
Ray Lamontagne rocked! It was a night of stonkingly good music, supported by the Secret Sisters.
We got there way to early as the tickets said 7pm, but in fact the first act came on at 8 and Ray and the Pariah dogs came on at 9pm. However, it was well worth the wait.
I was doubly happy as I had the pink streaks in my hair redone yesterday, so they are very bright!

We Love You Ray
Tomorrow evening, we are going to see Ray Lamontagne playing at the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester and I am SO excited! I have seen him twice before and he is amazing. Each performance is full of raw energy and his songs connect so strongly with me. Last time he even made me cry!
Ray isn't big on "chatting" to the audience and is quite reserved. Last time I saw him, he remained almost deadpan when a male member of the audience bellowed "We love you Ray" and "Marry me Ray" in a strong Mancunian accent!
He doesn't like to tell the history of a song as he believes that the song should retain mystery and be meaningful to the each person who listens to it. Along with his band, he seems to give every performance his all!
I'm also looking forward to seeing the support acts as there has been some great talent amongst them, in particular Priscilla Ahn who has the voice of an angel.
